Press release: ISPA welcomes new communications appointments
Published on: 2010-11-02The Internet Service Providers’ Association of South Africa (ISPA) has welcomed the appointment of Roy Padayachie as the new Minister of Communications and Themba Dlamini as ICASA’s CEO. The organisation says that both new appointees bring a wealth of relevant experience and expertise into their roles.
“We welcome the news that Padayachie will be taking over this important ministerial portfolio,” said Ant Brooks, ISPA General Manager. He is no stranger to the sector, having served as a deputy communications minister in the past and was widely expected to take this post when President Zuma first announced his cabinet.”
Padayachie has a keen understanding of the sector and has expressed his willingness to partner and engage with industry to address the country’s telecoms challenges, Brooks noted. “We look forward to working with him to create a competitive telecoms industry that serves the needs of South Africa’s people.”
Dlamini also has the requisite experience and a track record of performance. ISPA is hopeful that he will be able to help ICASA strengthen its capacity as a regulator in a sector so vital to South Africa’s growth.
