Press Release:
ISPA Celebrates 30 Years at 21st iWeek from 21 to 23 April 2026
Published on: 2026-04-17– Technical focus, trends and unparalleled networking at ZANOG@iWeek2026
The 21st ZANOG@iWeek2026 is almost upon us as the South African internet community eagerly awaits next week.
Set for Tuesday, 21 to Thursday, 23 April at the Irene Country Lodge in Pretoria, ISPA’s 30th birthday will be celebrated at the country’s most highly-anticipated internet industry gathering.
ZANOG@iWeek2026 will bring together South Africa’s large and small internet organisations, techies, movers, shakers and influencers, as well as anyone with an interest in internet trends and technologies.
Keynote addresses, presentations, workshops, training programmes and social events running in parallel over three days are aimed at promoting practical innovation and insight sharing to bolster Africa’s position within the global internet community.
“The ISPA team, ZANOG and our amazing sponsors and partners are particularly excited by this year’s programme. It represents a stellar effort by everyone involved,” said Sasha Booth-Beharilal, ISPA chair.
The full programme is available at iweek.org.za/programme.
The conference theme of “Towards Universal and Meaningful Connectivity” reflects the fact that significant gaps remain in internet coverage, cost, and performance, particularly for underserved communities.
ZANOG@iWeek2026 will kick-off this coming Tuesday with Introductory Sessions by Prof. Adewale Adedokun (AFRINIC), Mahen Naidu & Seshni Moodaly (Telcables), Portia Rabonda (FLEXOPTIX), Donald Jolley (ZANOG) and Sasha Booth-Beharilal (ISPA).
Specific focus areas will follow over the ZANOG@iWeek2026 conference days, including technological best practices and operational case studies to do with networking, cybersecurity and resilience and domains.
ISPA is particularly pleased that the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Solly Malatsi, has accepted an invitation to present on the industry landscape on Wednesday next week. Another event highlight will be ICT industry veteran Andile Ngcaba speaking about Technology Disruption & Innovation.
The ZANOG@iWeek2026 agenda will address broader industry trends such as IPv6 deployment and migration, DNS, internet governance and regulatory updates. Skills development, collaboration models, business sustainability and emerging technologies will all come into view.
The overarching industry focus will be cemented with FNO workshops, trends in fibre infrastructure, presentations on 30 years of INX-ZA peering, regulatory updates and pre-conference technical training. Updates from AFRINIC, ISPA and sponsors like Telcables (Exabyte) and Flexoptix (Petabyte) will all be anticipated by iWeek’s attendees.
Attendance at iWeek remains free. This continued collaboration between ISPA and ZANOG is expected to attract engineers, business leaders, policymakers, and technical specialists from across South Africa’s internet and communications sectors, as well as representatives from government and academia.
“From full talks and lightning talks to panel discussions and experience reports, there will be something of interest at iWeek for ISPs, SMEs, content networks, infrastructure providers and many others.
“ISPA, ZANOG and our valued partners look forward to welcoming you to the neutral, community-driven industry platform that is ZANOG@iWeek2026,” concluded Booth-Beharilal.
