Ntokozo Mbonani is an admitted attorney currently employed as a Regulatory Advisor at NTT DATA (former Dimension Data (Pty) Ltd) with responsibility for assisting the Regulatory Director to ensure regulatory compliance in the Middle East and South Africa. Throughout his time, he has built a reputation for being diligent, creative and collaborative.
Ntokozo Mbonani has seven years of experience in total which comprises working at a golden circle global law firm, Norton Rose Fulbright Inc as a Candidate Attorney in 2018 and later an Associate. During this time, he worked mainly in commercial litigation, forensic investigations, financial services regulation and compliance and technology. He was also the Chairperson of NRF Pride, which focused on creating a welcoming environment for queer people in the workplace whilst also ensuring awareness by all employees. He also sat in the Transformation Committee which sought to drive inclusivity and employability of people across race, sex, gender and disability. This was followed by his role as a Junior Legal Counsel in 2021 at Takealot Group in which included Takealot.com, Mr. D and Superbalist.com. In this role he focused on organizational regulatory compliance, including product compliance. There, he was instrumental in developing policies and procedures for data privacy. In his current role at NTT DATA, his primary areas of focus include competition law, data privacy, telecommunications and artificial intelligence. When capacity permits, he also assists with contract drafting and negotiation.
Ntokozo Mbonani holds a Bachelor of Arts (Law and International Relations) an LLB and a Cyber Law Certificate of Competency from the University of the Witwatersrand. He is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional (EU) with the International Associate of Privacy Professionals.
His skills are wide ranging including, drafting of court papers, managing litigation, drafting of contracts, policies and standard operating procedures. He is also skilled in providing regulatory advice which can be reduced to a legal opinion fit for business and has been able to demonstrate an ability to convert the law into practical business advice. He also has a passion for legal training as his role requires an active effort to drive awareness and compliance with the law. As a result, he can engage various stakeholders including regulatory authorities and external experts.
