Guy Halse has an MSc in Computer Science and is currently Project Director of the South African Identity Federation project at TENET.
Prior moving to TENET, he spent 12 years at Rhodes University as IT Operations Manager. On starting at Rhodes he inherited an office full of old equipment dating back to the start of the Internet in South Africa, and responsibility for hippo.ru.ac.za. This sparked an interest in DNS, CCTLDs, IP addressing, and the South African Internet community in general.
Over the last few years Guy has consulted to the .ZA Domain Name Authority, the Lesotho Communications Authority, as well as to a number of schools and non-profit organisations in the Eastern Cape. He has also contributed to several open-source software projects.
Guy is passionate about identity federation, and is playing an active role in the establishment of a research and education federation in South Africa. He developed policy for and serves on the South African steering committee of the eduroam roaming service.
