Sasha Booth-Beharilal is currently the Director of Group Data Privacy and Protection at NTT Ltd. Prior to this, she was the Compliance and Regulatory Manager at MWEB.
Sasha holds BCom law and LLB degrees, is an admitted attorney of the High Court in South Africa, and has completed a short course with the University of Berkeley on Artificial Intelligence and a Masters Degree in Leadership; focusing on managing cybersecurity as a business risk for SMEs. Sasha is currently undertaking a PhD.
Prior to joining MWEB, Sasha worked at 2U, Inc., a NASDAQ listed company, where she specialised in, and advised on multi-jurisdiction privacy and data protection laws. She also worked at PPM Attorneys – a tech, media and telecommunications firm in Johannesburg, where she gained considerable experience in the regulatory side of broadcasting and telecommunications.
Notably, Sasha was involved in the spectrum case between ICASA & the Minister of Telecommunications, representing ICASA alongside Mr Lucien Pierce and Advocate Wim Trengrove SC.
Sasha is passionate about privacy and digital technologies. She was the chairperson of IAPP Cape Town (2019-2020) and has assisted many organisations on their privacy and data protection practices.
