South Africa’s Internet Service Providers’ Association (ISPA) invites applications for its newly unveiled “ISPA Inspires” bursary programme.

The inaugural ISPA Inspires bursaries will be awarded to one or more promising young candidates interested in pursuing a career in the ISP (Internet Service Provider) sector.

  • Applications open on Tuesday, 01 December 2020 and applicants should be individuals recognised in terms of the National Youth Policy, and may be current or prospective students at a recognised South African TVET or higher educational institution.
  • Applicants may not be funded by an existing bursary.
  • Preference will be given to students enrolled or planning to enrol in a field of study related to ICT (Information and Communications Technology).

A balanced scorecard will be used by ISPA to evaluate the applications while details of the institution providing the training and proper references must be provided.

“The ISPA Inspires Bursary programme represents ISPA’s latest contribution towards boosting South Africa’s pool of ICT talent. We believe it is important to encourage and assist our youth to enter the ICT Sector, which will contribute towards economic growth while strengthening the Sector itself.” says Aurora Vani chair of ISPA’s SocDev (Social Development) Working Group.

The launch of the ISPA Inspires Bursary programme 2020 follows the 2019 retirement of ISPA’s teacher training programme which saw the association and its partners train well over 3 000 teachers in ICT skills over 19 years, thanks to the support of ISPA members.

After a decade and a half of investing in teachers, ISPA is looking forward to working towards the development of the country’s youth. The Association will call on its members to support its ISPA Inspires bursary programme with the same energy and enthusiasm that previously made the teachers training programme a great success.
