The countdown has begun as the Internet community looks forward to the 7th iWeek conference and exhibition set for 17-19 September 2008 at The Forum in Bryanston, Johannesburg.

The announcement of WebAfrica as this year’s Platinum sponsor at iWeek with Amobia Communications & Teraco Data Environments as Gold sponsors and MTN Network Solutions & Vox Telecom as Silver sponsors reaffirms the event’s credibility and appeal.

iWeek is the annual meeting ground for leading technologists and Internet industry experts as they bring to the fore local and global issues affecting the Internet community.

“We are particularly pleased to be able to maintain the interest of a wide-ranging audience each year with interesting speakers and topical presentations,” said Elaine Zinn, Chairperson of ISPA’s Events Working Group.

“The enthusiasm witnessed in the uptake of stands, speaking slots and sponsorship makes ISPA and UniForum SA (the co.za registrars) proud to be affiliated with an event of the calibre of iWeek,” added Zinn.

The sharing of strategies and practices by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) will facilitate a learning process at iWeek, ensuring that consumers’ interests are adequately protected.

Web Africa is one of the most prominent Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in South Africa, voted Top 50 ICT Company and MyADSL Broadband ISP of the year in 2006 and 2007. Since their inception in 1997, Web Africa has placed a relentless focus on technological innovation and a high level of customer service, which has spurred their growth into one of the leading Web hosting and ADSL providers in South Africa.

Web Africa has pioneered many features in the ADSL and web hosting space, such as prepaid rollover bandwidth. This has helped the company achieve 300% year on year growth and is currently servicing a customer base of over 25 000 subscribers. As of 2008 the company has sharpened its focus to embody the new promise to customers: “Smart made simple.”

Internet Solutions will be providing superior Internet connectivity for the duration of the conference. The availability of high-speed Internet access will ensure that delegates, exhibitors and attendees in general remain productive while out of the office.

The iWeek speaker line-up is stocked with renowned experts and has something for everyone with interesting sessions featuring topics like The Changing Internet Market, Spam, Intellectual Property, Wireless, Content Filtering, DNS & IPv6, Interception and a Business Focus.

Some of the following exhibitors will be showcasing their products and services at iWeek: Neotel, Internet Solutions, Switch Telecom, Technology and Finance International SA, Global Technology Associates Inc, Business Connexion, Cisco, Evenflow Distribution, Mindset Network, Miro Distribution, Nashua Mobile, NetDay Association, SA Institute of Intellectual Property Law and WAPA (Wireless Access Providers’ Association).
