The impact and benefits of IPv6 will top the agenda at the seventh annual iWeek conference and exhibition to be held from 17 – 19 September at The Forum in Bryanston, Johannesburg. Bookings for stands and sponsorships are now open.

Other topics on the iWeek agenda include international trends in DNS (Domain Name System), opportunities for ISPs (Internet Service Providers), protecting intellectual property, interception and navigating the ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) process.

The Internet Service Providers’ Association of SA (ISPA) and UniForum SA (the CO.ZA registrars) are hosting the event, widely acknowledged as the premier Internet event on the SA calendar. iWeek is the only convention endorsed by the Internet Society of South Africa and anyone with an interest in the Internet is welcome to attend free of charge.

Different levels of sponsorship are available for interested companies. “iWeek consistently offers leading insights into developments within the industry from top minds in the business. It’s an event that brings together all the players to discuss relevant issues and solutions to challenges facing the industry,” says Elaine Zinn, Chairperson of ISPA’s Events Working Group. “One of those issues is the transition to IP version 6, which is the focus of this year’s event.”

IPv6 is the next generation protocol that will replace the almost 30-year-old IPv4. As successor to IPv4, IPv6 addresses a number of issues in IPv4, such as the limited number of available addresses as well as offering improvements to IPv4 in areas such as routing and network configuration.

“In focusing on relevant, leading edge technologies and issues, iWeek is ideally positioned to attract a niche market that shares similar concerns,” says Zinn. “It offers excellent value in terms of what sponsors can reap from the event and small businesses and BEE ISPs, in particular, can also benefit from the information that will be shared at this event.”

iWeek as an annual event is a platform for industry players not only to network, but to find synergies and inspiration. The meeting of minds and considerable talent contributes to the advancement of the local Internet fraternity as a whole. iWeek is a classic example of how members of a competitive industry have learned to co-operate towards developing a healthy, strong market sector by sharing information on new technologies and revealing successful Internet-related business practices.

Attendance of the event as a delegate is free to all interested parties. Potential sponsors and exhibitors can contact Elaine Zinn at iweek (at) ispa.org.za or telephone +27.11.314.7751 or +27.83.327.4806 or visit https://ispa.org.za/iweek/2008/index.shtml.
