About the ISPA awards

ISPA believes that it is important to recognise companies as well as persons who have contributed in some small or significant way to the growth and development of the ICT industry. We are therefore pleased to announce the introduction of the “ISPA awards”. Three (3) categories have been determined and are briefly defined below.

We are calling on members to submit nominations. The form is available at: ispa.org.za/ispa-awards-nomination-form

What are the requirements for nominees?

  • ISPA members can nominate their own projects (or projects of other members if they wish), for the Innovation and Community Impact categories. The ISPA member whose project is being nominated must be a member in good standing.
  • For the Individual Award, the nominee can be any individual, and the nomination must be made by an ISPA member.
  • The period of the award is from 1 June 2014 – 31 May 2015. Projects and community contributions must have taken place during this period (or substantially during this period) to be eligible for nomination.

Support this initiative by submitting your nominations now. To assist our judges in their selections, please ensure that you complete all fields requested on the nomination form. Winners will be announced at the iWeek gala dinner to be held on Thursday, 2015-09-10 at the Spier Hotel and Wine Farm, Stellenbosch, Cape Town. If the nominated candidates are not able to attend the event, they can elect someone else to be present on their behalf.

Award categories

Innovation Award

This recognises an ISPA member demonstrating innovation in providing Internet access. The measure of innovation for 2015 will be the member providing the most remote Internet access in South Africa but different measures of innovation will be used for future year’s Innovation Award.

Community Impact Award

This recognises the ISPA member whose project or projects have had the most meaningful impact on the community. This award acknowledges that different sized companies have different resources for community projects, and depending on the number of nominees, awards may be given for different sizes of ISPA member for this category.

Individual Award

This recognises an individual who is going above and beyond his or her job to promote Internet development in South Africa.
